Therapeutic Riding Instructor
Location: Victoria, BC – 6917 Veyaness Rd Saanichton BC
Hours: 15-30 hours/week,
Compensation: $25 per hour
About Us: VTRA is a leading therapeutic riding program dedicated to empowering individuals through the transformative power of horse riding and equine interaction. Our inclusive and supportive environment fosters personal growth and creates lasting connections within our community.
What We're Looking For: While prior experience in therapeutic riding is preferred, we are open to candidates with a strong background in horses and who have experience teaching riding lessons. Ideal candidates will possess a compassionate and empathetic nature and are eager to learn and grow within our program. Experience or interest in working with people with disabilities is an asset.
What You'll Do: As an instructor, you will work closely with our dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and horses. Utilize your expertise in horsemanship and people-centered care to ensure the highest standards of therapeutic riding instruction. Your role will involve developing and teaching engaging lesson plans, facilitating a variety of Equine Assisted Services, training and leading program volunteers, taking an active role in horse training and care, goal setting for participants, and fostering a safe and inclusive environment for everyone at VTRA.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of experience in horse riding or equine care.
Minimum 3 years of experience teaching horseback riding lessons.
A genuine passion for making a difference and fostering an inclusive environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification through CanTRA, CHA, or PATH International.
Experience engaging with people who live with diverse abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Additional information:
Additional renumeration will be considered for candidates who are currently certified as a riding instructor/coach, through a national certification body, and/or who have more than 3 years of experience teaching riding and horsemanship.
Hours of employment can be negotiable for the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain Standard First Aid.
The successful candidate will be expected to acquire certification through CanTRA, PATH Int., or CHA IRD within the first year of employment at VTRA.
