VTRA is launching our second annual One Hoof at a Time Pledge Event. This campaign is centered around mental health and wellness as we enter into February, a time of the year where we all can struggle to get outside and make time for exercise and spending time at the barn.. Depression and anxiety are the most frequent diagnosis that VTRA provides Equine-Assisted Services for.

Spending time with horses fosters a sense of deep connection and balance between both horses and humans. Working with a horse creates a space for a person to be present and mindful, whether doing groundwork, grooming, or riding. While you work with your horse, they can feel and read the energy that you produce, often responding to it. This is a time for you to slow down and focus solely on the relationship between you and your horse.

How the Fundraiser Works​

Participants pledge to spend a certain amount of intentional hours spending time with their horse—anything from riding at the barn, practicing mindfulness, grooming your horse, or doing groundwork. 

Then, you invite friends, family, and your community to pledge dollars toward your pledged hours you’re working on. Every pledge helps raise money for VTRA’s programs while encouraging you to care for your own mental health.
