Introducing a Horse to the Unknown
Saturday August 7th, 10:00 - 12:30pm Fee: $40
This is an activity based, hands on session that introduces a horse to something they are not accustomed to. This topic will unpack how the horse views and may react to new obstacles and objects. Discussion and practice will revolve around strategies that allow new things to be introduced to horses safely with ease. Activities will allow participants to further their leadership skills as they introduce our horses to new experiences and adventures.
Intro to Lunging
Monday August 16th, 6:30 - 9:00pm, Fee: $40
A hands on session with a focus of understanding how the participant’s body language influences the horse while lunging. This session will focus on the basics of lunging with discussion of its use, purpose and limitations. Participants will have a chance to practice proper positioning and ways to better motivate the horse's movement.
Lunging Part II
Saturday August 21st 10:00 - 12:30pm Fee: $40
An activity based session which will provide an opportunity to practice and continue to learn about strategies that will lead to success while lunging. Participants will participate in activities that introduce methods that aid in creating relaxation and rhythm on the lunge line
Monday August 23rd, 6:30 - 9:00pm Fee: $40
A fun activity based session with a focus on leading horses through obstacles and engaging the interest of both horse and participant. This session will have a focus on team building as participants will have an opportunity to set their own obstacle course and practice leading the horse through it.
Friday August 27th, 7:00 - 8:30pm Fee: $25
This discussion based session focuses on learning the history and evolution of both English and Western tack. Participants will learn about the difference and uses for the variations of tack and its benefits and disadvantages for both horse and rider.
